Bishop Eddie and Emma are a gifted and charming couple, devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ and His healing ministry.

For years they have faithfully proclaimed the saving grace of Jesus and His continuing healing ministry on earth.

A former teacher and travel counselor, Emma exercises a ministry of Spiritual Direction in the Diocese of Central Newfoundland. She served on the Board of Directors for the School of Pastoral Care and has been involved in the healing ministry for two decades through the Order of St. Luke.

Emma also teaches Leadership Training Institute courses for Anglican Renewal Ministries and has served as Diocesan President of the Anglican Church Women.  In her work with SOMA (Sharing of Ministries Abroad) she has participated in international missions. In addition, she has led parish workshops on Prayer and Spiritual development.

Her special ministry is in spiritual direction. Emma ministers with lay persons and clergy in Central Newfoundland. She also leads three “schools” for training spiritual directors, one in central Newfoundland and two in Ontario. The Schools in Ontario have a dozen or so people both clergy and lay persons. Each school is held for a week, during which time each person receives individual Spiritual Direction. The group in Newfoundland meets every month for five or six hours, in a mini-retreat. They share their personal prayer journey, listen and encourage each other, and practice their art by sharing peer presentations.  Emma enjoys walking, dancing and cryptic crosswords.

Among his many appointments and elections to various organizations, Eddie is past president of The International Order of St Luke the Physician, a Christian healing  organization that supports a network of chapters throughout Canada and the United States.

Following retirement in 2000 the Diocese was unable to elect a new Bishop so Eddie returned for a year as the Diocesan Bishop. At the request of Bishops in Ontario the Marshes had three interim periods of six months. For the past six months they have been serving in the Parish of Buchans, in Central Newfoundland. Normally Bishop Eddie's continuing ministry is in the parish of Salvage where he serves as honorary assistant. Week by week he leads worship in one of the five churches in the parish.

Emma and Eddie travel extensively to minister as a team at healing events throughout North America.  Their three children and five grandchildren are a great source of joy.
