McDonald has been an ordained Anglican priest in parish ministry for 12 years in the Anglican Church of Canada, and 10 years in the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida. She now resides in Sanford, Florida with her husband. Dawn is a Certified Pastoral Sexual Addiction Specialist with the Christian Sexual Addiction Specialists International, and a Certified Pastoral Sexual and Relational Recovery Specialist with Compulsive Problematic Sexual Behavior & Partner Trauma Association. Dr. McDonald is also a trained leader for Living Waters Canada (now Journey Canada) programs and a founding member and chair person of The Zacchaeus Fellowship (http://www.zacchaeus.ca) a group of men and women who hold to the church's historic view on sexuality in the face of former or present struggles with same-sex attractions.
As an openly ex-gay Anglican priest, who was active in the lesbian
lifestyle (and partnered) for over 13 years and then experienced the
transforming power of Christ, McDonald has spoken at numerous
conferences and events both nationally and internationally.
McDonald
has spoken with and ministered to hundreds of
same-sex attracted individuals.
She has also co-authored Taking
Love Seriously, an Anglican Agenda Series
booklet whose series editor is J.I. Packer.
She
brings to this session, her academic qualifications, personal experience
of same-sex attractions, and her pastoral experiences.
